CRE have sponsored Banks of Dee, Albion Boys Club for a number of years and this year Paul Coutts of Derby County F.C. presented the sponsorship on behalf of CRE.
Coutts started his football career at Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen as a youth player aged 10, the club he supported as a boy before he was released by the club aged 16 because the club thought he was too small to play professional football. Looking back at this decision, Coutts said "it was a big blow to be told by Aberdeen that I wouldn't be getting a contract but it was also a blessing in disguise.
In 2005, Coutts then moved into the Scottish Highland Football League with his local senior club, Cove Rangers F.C. During his time at Cove Rangers he was a part of their Highland Football League title winning team, (2007/08), winning the Highland Football League "Player of the Year" award in the same season.
Success in the Highland League gave Coutts the chance opportunity to trial for Peterborough United and he was awarded a 3 year contract. This was followed by a period at Preston North End and his current contract with Derby County.
Coutts said "I'm delighted to be given the chance to come along today and meet the lads on behalf of CRE. Sponsorship of teams at this level is what gives the next generation of players the opportunity to improve their skills and technique. Without such sponsorship I wouldn't have had the opportunity to develop my game and to embark on a career in the professional game"
