CRE supports IKM to deliver Resident ROV System for Statoil

CRE supports IKM during the design and delivery of an electrical, permanently seabed installed RROV (Residential – ROV). The system will interface with IKM’s Onshore Control Center via Tampnet. A dedicated fiber-based network system for the platforms in question. The systems are equally designed to operate on the 4G mobile broadband system.

The RROV concept developed for Snorre B represents a step change in the way that ROV operations are carried out. This results in safer operations, expected cost reductions for operators and the industry overall. Although the RROV technology developed is tailor-made for the Snorre B installation and Statoil, the overall concept and technology is available for operations worldwide.

Craig Simpson, Founder Director of CRE stated “We were delighted to be given the opportunity to support IKM on this project. Placing an ROV on the seabed for extended periods of time introduces new challenges for the industry on design, material selection and reliability. Clearly, success with this concept will offer the industry the ability to carry out operations 24/7 regardless of weather conditions without support vessels on site.

This was a fast track project with new design and qualification required to produce the components required for the RROV. It was a great example of how CRE can manage fast track delivery of new, fully qualified, products to tight delivery deadlines.”
